St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Groups and Activities
Our Pastor, Fr. Shawn Mahon, and Pastoral Associate, Mrs. Donna Dougherty, provide ministerial comfort, support, and Eucharist to Keswick Home, Alice Manor, Roland Park Place, 3838 & 3939 Roland Towers, Union Memorial Hospital, and those parishioners who are homebound or hospitalized.
Our Religious Education department offers classes for children, youth, and adults, Lenten Missions, an annual Vacation Bible School, Scripture Study, and on-going catechist formation opportunities for those who want to teach others, or deepen their understanding of Catholic faith. Contact our Coordinator of Religious Education, Mrs. Susan Sousa, in the parish office if you are interested in attending or volunteering to teach/assist with any of the above opportunities.
Our Liturgical Ministries include Lectors (Mrs. Genie Schwind), Eucharistic Ministers (Mrs. Donna Dougherty), Altar Servers (Mr. Richard Parker), Ushers/Greeters (Ms. Christine Barrasso), our Contemporary Group (Ms. Cindy Penn), our Choir and Cantors (Ms. Jin Lee).
Our Social Outreach takes the form of: Food Pantry (Mrs. Phyllis Kreller) provides non-perishable food and hygiene items for those in need in the Hampden community (volunteers deliver goods to a local church for distribution). Health Ministry (Mrs. Debbie Bena) provides free monthly blood pressure screenings, annual flu shots (for a minimal fee), literature and resources for health care in the Baltimore metro area. Angel Food Network (Mrs. Kerry Craven) provides meals for those temporarily on bedrest or homebound due to illness or injury. Respect Life Committee (Mrs. Marty Taylor) meets monthly to plan activities and educational opportunities that support respect for life issues and organizations throughout the Baltimore metro area. Prayer Group meets Thursdays at 7pm to pray for the Church, the parish community, and the world. Alcoholics Anonymous meets Saturdays at 6pm in the school hall year round. Narcotics Anonymous meets Sundays at 7pm and Tuesdays at 8pm in the school hall year round.
Social groups and activities include: Autumn Years Club (Mrs. Ruth Ruggiero) for seniors, meets monthly Sept-June for trips, meetings with guest speakers, bingo, and other social activities. Youth Group meets twice monthly (see our Youth Ministry Page). Meet & Greet (Mrs. Carolyn Donohue & Ms. Patricia Chalfant) offers the chance to stop in the sacristy the 3rd weekend of each month after Masses for fellowship and light refreshments. We also hold scheduled events that offer opportunities for fellowship, community service, and fun, such as our annual Christmas Bazaar, bull roasts, etc.
